Guides

Connect your own domain Put your site on your own address, like bistroravn.dk: the records to add at your domain provider, and what to do while you wait.

Quick answers

How do I connect my own domain?

Add the domain here and follow the DNS instructions at your registrar. We verify automatically and issue the certificate. Most domains are live within minutes of the DNS change.

My domain says pending. What now?

DNS changes can take a few hours to spread across the internet. Double-check the records match the instructions exactly, then check back on the domain page. It flips to active once the records are right (typical wait is minutes, not days).

Can I use a domain I already own?

Yes, that's exactly the flow: add your domain here and update the DNS records at your existing registrar. There's no domain purchase inside the studio.

Does connecting a domain affect my email?

No. We only ask for the records that point the website. Your MX (email) records stay untouched. Sending form notifications FROM your own address is a separate, optional setup. Start it from the Inbox page via "send from your own domain".

What are redirects for?

They send an old page URL to its new home, so saved links and your search rankings keep working after you rename a page or move a site over. You'll find them further down this page.

How do I bring my old WordPress URLs across?

Point your domain at us, then add the old-to-new URL pairs under Redirects, or paste them all at once with the CSV import. If you import your WordPress posts, we create those redirects for you automatically.

Do I need a redirect when I rename a page?

No. Renaming a page adds the redirect for you, tagged Automatic in the list, so the old address still resolves.
